About this course

The DGC as its better known is one of the top courses in India with a sterling reputation. As a golfer this is a MUST PLAY course. Built by the British in 1931, it is one of the oldest golf courses in Asia & the oldest one in Delhi. There are 2 courses here – a 18 hole course, the Lodhi course & the 9 hole Peacock course. Delhi Golf Club, originally called the “Lodhi Golf Course”, contains many Tughlak & Lodi dynasty monuments & is also home to a variety of birds and deer. Don’t be surprised to see a Peacock saunter across the course or break into a dance or a big Nilgai appear from nowhere & disappear as quickly. Partridges in the rough are common here.

The Lodhi course is a 18 hole, 7036 yard design which plays much longer from the championship tees when its made tougher for the pro’s. Its the busiest course in India with over 100000 rounds of golf clocked here per annum. (We do not have the data but would guess it should be one of the busiest courses in Asia too). It has a reputation – its a very unforgiving course with narrow fairways & thorny bushes alongside – there is a premium here for playing a accurate game. Be conservative with your driver & you will enjoy your round here. The course does not have any significant water hazards but the bunkers the unforgiving rough & the mature tree line more than compensate for that.

The DGC as its better known has been a venue for the Indian Open, part of the Asian PGA circuit and some other important golf tournaments including the Sail, SRF and Hero Honda open. Centrally located close to the India Gate this club is the rendezvous for Delhi’s elite. The Lodhi course is open to visitors & you need to have a handicap certificate handy to play here. The 7036 yard, 18 hole Lodhi course requires a handicap of less than 18 for visitors. You can easily play the 9 hole peacock course if you do not have a handicap certificate.
